Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1) Your desire to be a good Muslim is indeed praiseworthy. Keep that desire strong and pursue it. Allah will guide you. Allah Ta’ala says in the Quran:

O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are truthful.[1]

If Allah has ordered us to be in the company of the truthful, surely there must be some people around. In every environment around the world, there is good and evil. It is up to an individual to search for the good people. You may refer to Qari Haneef Jalandhari at http://tauheed-sunnat.com/category/video-ulama-scholor/qari-muhammad-haneef-jalandhari or the Ulama at Darul Uloom Karachi at http://darululoomkarachi.edu.pk/ur/ for assistance.

2) There are no restrictions or barriers between Allah Ta’ala and his creation when it comes to duas. A person is at liberty to supplicate for anything he desires or seems fit.

Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Qur’an:

And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.[2]

Jabir Radhiallahu Anhu narrates that I heard Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam saying:

“There is none who utters a supplication, except that Allah gives him what he asked, or prevents evil from him that is equal to it – as long as he does not supplicate for something evil, or the cutting of ties of the womb.[3]

You may supplicate to Allah to grant you pious and righteous children; whether you are married or unmarried. You may also recite the following dua mentioned in the Qur’an:

And those who say, “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.”[4]
