My problem is that I get really angry when my husband watches TV and movies

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
My problem is that I get really angry when my husband watches TV and movies. How can I get him to stop this as I have tried everything, softly, harshly, stating its un-Islamic, a kabeerah gunah, it’ll have a bad effect on our kids etc. The anger and tears make me lose respect for him. Allahamdulillah he prays 4 sometimes 5 times a day but I would like him to go to the masjid more, to become more deeni. I have done sabr for so long now. He had no job for a long time and was upset a lot and I did sabr. I believed he would come to Islam. Ultimately I feel our match isn’t compatible. I do purdah and he is not really comfortable with that either. He doesn’t stop me but would prefer me not to do it. I started purdah after my nikah after seeking his permission and then he was ok but now he says when he saw me I just did hijab and I became more religious than him. The effects of this is that he doesn’t like to take me out anywhere – like parks or drives and being cooped up all day with my in-laws leaves me frustrated. His relations with his parents and brothers are also not good. He hardly communicates with them. I try my best but I get tired. What is the best way to make him come to Islam more? And fulfill my rights as a wife more? To respect my demands etc.? Its just horrible when he spends the whole day outside, then at home he either sleeps or watches TV or leaves to spend time with friends. He is all I have, my parents are so far away.
If somebody is involved in bad things then it becomes a responsibility of the other person to try to talk him out of it with love, when a person tries all means to stop someone from bad things like requesting etc. then that person would have fulfilled his responsibility. Therefore, you don’t have to get angry you should just be quiet because he is responsible for his actions. You should be consistent with yourself and if that person does not like ‘purda’ or if you are hurt than just be patient for the sake of Allah. If you are not taken out because of your ‘purda’ then you should not leave it. Sometimes the nature of people is hard to mold, you should try your best to deal with him.
