My question is related to Mazee, when I take Ghusl after copulating. Sometimes when I am wiping off my body, I notice mazee. So I take the whole Ghusl again. Do I have to take it again or just make Wuzu. Also if you can tell me the proper procedure to purify my clothes if they get urine by mistake or monee. A sheikh told me that you have to clean it three times by washing and draining each time with fresh water. Is this the right way to purify clothes. Also what about the PURE (clean) clothes that I wash along with my NAPURE clothes in the washing machine. Does the washing machine makes my clothes PURE.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

I assume that the question is with regards to mani (sperm) and not madhi (pre-ejaculate).  Please see the answer below by Mufti Yusuf Mullan concerning the exiting of sperm after performing the purificatory bath.

As for purifying clothing affected by filth, the general principle is that the item must be washed until the filth is removed.  It is not expected of one to use soap or hot water.  If by using normal cold water one is unable to remove the remaining trace, e.g. colour, of the filth then it is excused though one must try one’s best to remove the actual substance (‘ain).  As for washing the item of clothing three times and draining it each time, this is the recommendation of the scholars.  It is emphasised for people prone to misgivings (waswasa) that lead them to waste a lot of water.  It is not however a condition and as long as the filth is removed the item is purified.

Contemporary scholars give the fatwa that it is permissible to purify clothing in a washing machine.  This is based upon the ruling mentioned by ibn ‘Abidin in Radd al-Muhtar concerning the permissibility of purifying clothing affected by filth by washing in a single water-filled container (ijjana).  They do recommend that one purifies the clothing prior to being placed in the washing machine so as to avoid the scholarly difference surrounding purifying clothes in a washing machine.

And Allah knows best.
