Meaning of the Hadiths that encourage the remembrance of death

There are Hadiths regarding the remembrance of death, what do they mean? Do we remember those who have died or think about that we will die one day?

Answer

These Hadiths refer to a person thinking about the fact that he too will pass away one day. Remembering death will curb one’s desire for this temporary abode.

(Refer: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 1399, Mirqat, Hadith: 1607 and Hadith: 5352)

There are also deeds mentioned in other Hadiths like visiting the graveyard as this also causes one to remember death.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
