Suffering from severe waswasa and doubts

Question

Asalam alaykum.

I have been suffering with this problem over a month and i now i can’t take it anymore. It’s happening evrytime almost feels like it might stay forever and won’t go. I really need help to get rid of this problem.

What’s happening is that , just on the private part on the front ( male genital), i keep getting this negative feeling like something or someone is touching me.

I’ve kept praying the 3 kuls and aytul kursi and then pray quran. I kept my self busy in zikr. It does go away at times. But comes again. And sometimes by certain close members that feeling comes around again and i start getting negative thoughts ie they’ve done something or someone else has done something to me. I start getting feelings that this person could touch me in the wrong place.

But as for that for it to be a jin or black magic that could be highly unlikely in such a case. Although I’m not yet married and not in any form of relationship with a female but that doesn’t mean i should get married as soon as possible. This never use to happen to me before and i hope i could get some help from you.

There’s always negative and dirty and bad thoughts in my head like something bad will happen and i can’t live with this problem.

Please help me and give me the solution to this problem.

As im writing this I’m going through the bad feelings on the genital the private part and also around it. I want to be back like as i was before and normal like every other clean person.

Please reply to this message. Will be very thankful to you.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

We sympathize with you in your predicament. May Almighty Allah alleviate the predicament you are faced with. Aameen.

Brother, this life is filled with challenges and adversities. Every individual faces his/her own challenges. Almighty Allah has promised to test us in this world with various things. It is natural to feel anxious and experience grief.

Your attitude of reading the verses of the Qur’aan and making dhikr is praiseworthy. You state that you do not want to get married, then you should try to fast.

Nabi (ﷺ) advised:

Translation: Abdullah Ibn Masood Radhiallahu Anhu reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said to us:

0h young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes (from casting evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but he who cannot afford it, should observe fast for it is a means of controlling the sexual desire.

(Saheeh Al-Muslim, Kitaab Al-Nikaah)

We advise you not to ponder and build on these thoughts, as you will be aiding the Shaytaan in fulfilling his mission. Do not allow the whispers of Shaytaan to intimidate you.

Hereunder are some ways to combat the whisperings of Shaytaan:

  • Constantly recite the undermentioned supplications/duas :

رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ

Translation: O Allah! I seek your protection from the evil whisperings of the Shaytaan, and, O my Rabb, I seek Your protection that they (the Shaytaan) approach me (because they always approach with evil).’”

(Surah Al-Mu’minoon, Verses 97-98)

Translation: “O Allah! Make Your fear and remembrance the obsession of my mind and divert my will and courage to the performance of deeds that please You.”

Translation: There is no power to neither do any good nor prevent any evil except in Allah

  • If you are in the habit of experiencing doubts, then you may sprinkle water around your private parts or underpants.

This is understood from the following hadeeth:

جَاءَنِي جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَانْتَضِحْ ‏

Nabi () said: ‘‘Jibraeel came to me and said: ‘O Muhammad! When you perform wudhu then sprinkle water over the private part’’

(Sunan-Tirmithy, Kitaabut- Taharah)

  • Recite the Ta’awwudh as much as possible.
  • Recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Naas
  • Implore Allah Taalah in Du’aa to alleviate you from your predicament. Du’aa is the most powerful weapon of the believer.
  • Read the book “Combating the whisperings of Shaytaan” by Hadhrat Moulana Yunus Patel Saheb (Rahimahullah).

Our beloved Ustaadh Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb Hafidhaullah advises:

When you are on a highway filled with smoke that obscures the road, you will not worry to remove the smoke. You will focus on the road and drive through the smoke. You will pay attention on the road and not at the smoke.

The wasaawis are like the smoke. Ignore the wasaawis and work through them even though your work might feel obscured. Do not get caught up with the tricks of Shaytaan.

We also advise you to consult a medical expert to assist you overcome the challenge.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
