Is a father’s Zakat considered valid if he gives it to the Zakat and Sadaqa fund of a Madrasa where his Baligh son eats for free?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
Question: I am Baligh (sexually mature) and I do not possess the Nisab (i.e. the least amount of wealth from which Zakat is due). I study in Madrasa and I eat for free in the kitchen (in which food is provided for students from money given to the Madrasa through Zakat and Sadaqa). My father possess the Nisab. I want to know that if my father gives Zakat to the Zakat and Sadaqa fund of the Madrasa, where I also eat from money given in Zakat, is my father’s Zakat valid? And is it Halal for me to eat in the kitchen in the Madrasa?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

If the organizers of the Madrasa are approved by the students to be their advocate in receiving Zakat (which is usually done through fulfilling the admission form) or after possessing money given in Zakat through whichever means, uses this money to provide food for the students of the madrasa, then (in this case) the questioner can eat in the kitchen of the Madrasa, even though his father also gives Zakat to the Madrasa.
And Allah knows best.
