An unreliable virtue of Tahajjud Salah

Is this Hadith authentic and suitable to quote?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Tahajjud brings nur (celestial light) and brightness in the face during the day” (Ibn Majah)

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. The words are as follows:

“Whoever offers abundant Salah [Tahajjud] at night, his face will be beautiful/handsome during the day.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1333)

However, the Muhaddithun have declared this Hadith a fabrication. This Hadith was fabricated unintentionally as the student misunderstood his teacher.

(Al Kamil Fid Du’afa, vol. 2 pg. 580/581, Al Kafish Shaf, pg. 263, Hadith: 1052, Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 1169, Al Asrarul Marfu’ah, Hadith: 522)

This should be quoted as the statement of Sharik ibn ‘Abdillah (rahimahullah) and not as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
