I am trying to do more and more zikr. Is it a major sin and I would like to know how to control and overcome these thoughts. And sometimes I am getting negative thoughts like when I hear a good news I am thinking something bad about it. Please tell me what is the problem with me and why is it coming to me, and how to control these?

No matter what thoughts come to one’s mind, the person would not be held liable for just mere thoughts. It is important that the person should exert control over such whisperings and thoughts. One way to do that is to not pay any attention to these thoughts, a person would not be sinful, nor would affect his relationship with almighty Allah, because this thing is not in the control of a human being. Therefore, a person should not be grievous because of these things. However, one should busy oneself in activities, so that these whisperings can disappear, which usually happens.
