If someone gave me zakat money to spend it in its place of expenditure but before I could pay I lost the money, so, now am I responsible for that money? Would the person who gave me the money is absolved from the obligation of paying zakat?
In this case you are “wakeel” and “wakeel” or entrustee is usually “ameen” (who should not be responsible for the lost of entrusted material), hence the person who entrusted you with the money has not paid his/her zakat and would have to pay it again.
