Eating non-halal meat with non-Muslim relatives

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Can I eat non-halal meat when visiting my non-Muslim relatives in South America? (I’m a convert, and they don’t understand Islam)

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May His blessings and peace be on His Beloved Prophet, the best of creation, and his family, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

It is not permitted to eat the haram: the haram is something detested by Allah, and makes one liable for punishment in Hell.

Rather, explain things to them with wisdom; and deal with them with the excellence we find in the example of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace). Take gifts for them, and be exceptionally kind, warm, and loving. You’ll find that they will find themselves loving you.

Please go to www.SunniPath.com, and search for ‘halal meat.’

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
