Can Zikr be made without covering of the head?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The Mother of the Believers, Sayyida A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) related that,

“The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to perform remembrance of Allah in all his states.” [Bukhari, Muslim, and others]

The hadith commentators, such as Imam Nawawi and Imam Ayni (Allah have mercy on them) have explained that this is explicit in the permissibility of remembrance of Allah (dhikr) in all states, except those specifically prohibited, such as reciting the Qur’an for the one in a state of major ritual impurity or menstruation, or while relieving oneself and the like. [Nawawi, Sharh Sahih Muslim; Ayni, Umdat al-Qari Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari]

There is great virtue in remaining constant in one’s dhikr, and it is the surest of means, when coupled with avoiding the haram and fulfilling one’s obligations, to closeness with Allah. The greatest of innovations, and the means to all sin, is being heedless of Allah.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
