I joined the Imam in zuhr prayer late and missed the first rak’ah. I prayed the three rak’ah’s with jamaat, but I did the first salaam with Imam and then realised that I had missed my first rakah. I got up to complete my final rak’ah and then performed sajda sahw!
1. Should I have performed sajda sahw in the situation? why? – is it because I prayed durood (after thashahud) extra or because I did salaam?
2. What if I did 2 salaam’s?
3. Is it makruh to pray namaaz with shirt tucked into trousers? even if you are alone
Walaikum assalam,
In general when one gives salams thinking that one has finished and then realises that one has more to pray, one makes up what one has missed and then prostates the two prostrations of forgetfulness. This applies whether one has offered one or two salams. [ Maraqi al-Falah]
If one gives salams accidentally when praying behind an imam then this too necessitates a prostration of forgetfulness, as mentioned by imam al-Haskafi in Durr al-Mukhtar.
Concerning tucking one’s shirt in when praying, there is no direct dislikedness that can be attributed to this. If, however, one’s trousers are somewhat tight on one’s nakedness, it is somewhat disliked. If they fit tightly to one’s body so as to clearly define one’s awra (nakedness) when one prostrates, for example, then it would then be prohibitively disliked to do so, even when alone.
And Allah knows best.
