Folding Right Corner of Prayer Rug

I’ve seen a custom of folding the right corner of a prayer rug once done with prayer. I heard if one doesn’t, shaytan will come near it or something similar. Is this practice mustahabb? Is it possible this is a bida? Please clarify if this has any basis in the Hadith and reference to one if possible.

I’m not aware–after much research and asking of scholars from different lands–of any religious basis for this practice.

And Allah alone gives success.
