Sending salutations [durud] protects a person from sins being recorded?

I have come across a narration which states that whoever sends salutations [durud] upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once, Allah Ta’ala commands the Angels who record his deeds not to record any sin for the next three days.

What is the authenticity of this?

Answer

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) states that he has not come across a chain of narrators for this Hadith. The Hadith can therefore not be verified.

(Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 264)

One should be cautious and abstain from quoting a Hadith (like the one in question) when the Hadith is untraceable in any original Hadith source, until its authenticity can be verified.

There are many authentic virtues of sending salutations which should be quoted instead.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
