When did Quran revelation start mentioning men and women together?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Can you please verify if this statement is a Hadith and if it’s authentic.

A woman came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and asked him why all the verses in the Quran mentioned only men, [then after that the Quran always mentioned men and women.]

Answer

Sayyidatuna Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu’anha) reports that she once enquired from Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam):

‘O Messenger of Allah, why is it that we [women] are not mentioned in the Quran like the men are?’

Very soon thereafter I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) reciting to the Sahabah verse: 35 of Surah Ahzab.’

(Musnad Ahmad, vol.6 pg.301, Al-Mu’jamul Kabir, part: 23, Hadith: 665. Also see similar narrations in Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3211, Mustadrak Hakim, vol.2 pg.416 and Tafsir Tabari, Surah Ahzab, Verse: 35).

Note: The part in brackets in your question do not appear in any of the above references.
