The virtues of leading the Salah

Can you please provide me with a Hadith that illustrate the rewards for the Imams of Salah?

Answer

1) Being selected to lead the masses in Salah is certainly an honourable task, for Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) has said:

“The one who knows the most Quran should lead the masses in Salah”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 673)

2) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) made du’a for the Imams:

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The Imam is responsible and the Muadhin is trusted. O Allah! Guide the Imams and forgive the Muadhins”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 207,Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 517, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 1671. Also see footnotes of Shaykh Ahmad Shakir on Sunan Tirmidhi. and ‘Umdatul Qari, under Hadith: 608 )

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
