Days ago my fiance passed away in a car accident, May I pay Sadaka Garya for him? from my money? I want to make him anything good

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I was engaged to the best man in the world and broke up 2 weeks before the wedding.  10 days ago my fiance passed away in a car accident and sister you know how i must be feeling, i am going thru the worst period of my life, May allah have mercy on him and may he be in the best place now.  I have few questions regarding this.

1- May I pay Sadaka Garya for him?? from my money? I want to make him anything good , i keep making Duaa for him all the time but i want to make him a sadaka Garya and i heard it must be from his own money, so please advise if its possible for me to make it for him

2- I want to know if the dead hear us or feel us when we talk to them? i want to go visit him at least once in the graves, will he feel me if i go there? will he know that i am prayng for him and making duaa?

3- I pray and ask Allah to make me his wife in the Akhira if we wre not meant in the world, is this possible if we both go to paradise to be husband and wife if we wre not in this life?

Answer

Imam Bukhari [ra] has reported on the authority of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbaas [radhiallaahu anhu] that Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Ubaadah [radhiallaahu anhu] was away when his mother passed away. When he returned, he asked Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam], ‘Will it be of any benefit if I give charity on her behalf?’ Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] replied in the affirmative. (Sahih Bukhari Hadfith2762)

Isaal-e-Sawaab (to perform a virtuous act and grant the reward to any person alive or deceased it is permissible and in fact Mustahabb (meritorious). There are basically 2 forms of Isaal-e-sawaab:

1. Conveying of the rewards of charitable deeds.

2. Conveying of reward of physical deeds that do not entail wealth, e.g. Salaat, fasting, Dhikr, etc.

When a person makes Isaal-e-sawaab for the deceased, the punishment and grief of the deceased is made less and the stages of the deceased is increased. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyah vol.10 pg.284). Allah states in the Qur’aan, ‘And for you (in Jannah) is what you desire.’ (41:31)
