This message is regarding my brother 28yr old who is in habit of taking drugs. We are planning for his marriage in 2-3 months. He is financially unstable, indiscipline and irresponsible. This habit is affecting him negatively and his career is also getting destroyed. What do we do regarding his marriage in this kind of situation, should we continue looking for good proposals? Pls give us a practical solution as we are very worried for him. Jazakallahu khair

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Marriage comes with great responsibilities.
A drug addict will not be able to fulfill his marital responsibilities. It will be incorrect to get such person married without completely rehabilitating him with the hope that he will kick his addiction. It is most likely that he will get deeper into drugs and cause further damage to himself and his wife. We advise you identify a drug rehab specialist and seek his counsel on how to deal with your brother.
Also convince him to link himself to a spiritual guide and undergo a spiritual reformation. When one has spiritual sickness, one must understand the need for spiritual guidance and reformation.
Take the opportunity to encourage your brother to turn his life around. This requires a lot of support. Together with that, turn to Allah, wake up for Tahajjud and continuously beg Allah.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam stated[1]:
لاَ يَرُدُّ الْقَضَاءَ إِلاَّ الدُّعَاءُ
Translation: Rasulullah (SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “Nothing can change the Divine Decree except Dua.’’
May Allah protect and guide us. Aameen.
