Working at a Tax Department

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalamu Alaikum Recently I have been offered a job to work at the Tax Department of my country. My job tasks would involve emailing and sending reminders to businesses or individuals who have not made their tax payments. My other tasks also includes other general administrative work. I have read that working in the tax industry is haram. However, I have also read that tax can be halal in some cases. In my country, taxes are used for social development, infrastructural work, military and public servant wages. However, my country’s treasury is not empty and is kept in case of need in emergency situations or disasters. My question is, is it permissible for me to take up this job. Thank you.
