Is there a hadith that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said take care of your women three times and he cried whilst saying it?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Slms Mufti. I would like clarity on the post which is circulating regarding women. The post states that nabi (saw) said that “take care of your women three times and and cried while doing so”. Mufti did this or did it not happen? Jzk

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We have not come across a narration that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “take care of your women” three times and thereafter he sallallahu alaihi wa sallam cried.

There is a similar narration to this in Sahih al-Bukhari. However, in that hadith there is no mention of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam crying.

Translation: Treat women nicely, for a woman is created from the rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion. If you should try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. Treat women nicely. [sahih al-bukhari (4/133)]

When narrating hadith, one must exercise caution and not narrate hadith or pass on hadith without verifying its authenticity.

One bad action from a person shouldn’t be the reason we forget all the many good that they have done to us. This is against the Sunnah of Rasulullah . Forgive & overlook the faults of people. That is a great Sunnah of Rasulullah “- @MuftiEbrahim (Twitter)
