Asalamualaikum.
So, someone who was delivering the “adab e gasht” mentioned this Hadith:
Anas bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu) narrated that Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.” [The Book of Leadership: Sahih Muslim]
Once finished, I discreetly credited him, and said he should quote the Hadith as much as best possible even if he doesn’t remember it word-for-word. I told him he missed the word “fight”. The one who “fights” in the path of Allah. He hardly disagreed, and rebuked me infront of the entire continent. The Ameer than accused me of stirring fitna.
It was quite embracing, I was going to retaliate, but I just got up quietly, and left.
I have akwys strongly disagreed with Tabligh saathis mis-using these Ahadith even though the meaning of fisabi-lillah can have broader meanings, but this put me off from ghash completely.
My question is, was I right to correct the saathis for mis-quoting the Hadith?

You can try to perform islah(correct someone) if you have the competency to perform islah. In addition the method of performing islah has to be excellent.
