Reality of the tradition performed after 40 days of baby birth (also referred as chilah in Urdu)

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Assalamualaikum,

I would like to know if this is acceptable in Shari’a. In this tradition, 40 days after the baby is born women go to some other relative’s house and take bath to become pure so that they can pray, as per some people’s assumption they have to go to some relative’s house and when they return to thier home they clean-up all house and then it is considered pure and after that they hold big feast. Does Islam has any iota of any Sunnah like this.

Jazakallah
