    I have been offered a position as an insurance agent selling auto insurance which is mandatory in Toronto, Canada. I only provide a quote for coverage but it is not binding. The insurance company does the binding/transaction. Will this be a halal option for me?

    My uncle worked for NIT and then for National Bank of Pakistan till his retirement with a golden handshake. All of his life he worked for these groups by his own will and never tried to get another job to avoid riba related activities. Now he has given me some amount from his assets. Is that amount halal for me to take and spent on my family?

    What does Islam say about tobacco/cigarette based business/job? Actually I am Director Sales & Marketing of a world renowned tobacco group and some of my Muslim brothers told me that it is Makroh-e-Tehrimi (close to Haram). They tell me that I am selling cancer stick, and I will be held accountable by Allah because of my role in expanding heart diseases and cancer. I am very much curious since I am earning a living through this business.

    I currently live in the U.S. My dad is planning on buying a store where cigarettes are being sold. It is a very successful business but he is uncertain if in Islam the selling of cigarettes is haram or not. Note that my family is aware of how dangerous it is for one’s health so we don’t smoke.
