I cant stop watching TV ? Please advise..

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
I keep a full beard, clothing above ankles, but I can’t stop watching TV? I even followed various advises of Ulama-e-Ikram. They told me to pack my schedule so I can keep my self-busy and not waist any time. Job, School, household tasks, and daily deeni activities such as quran, dhikir, books, wazaif, & gush) take up my time. But some how I still can’t stop watching TV. While eating I have the urge to watch TV for some minutes. As soon as I come home my family members or friends over are watching TV. I’m tempted to watch it with them. Also, whenever my family or friends come over they want to watch some program mostly sports and news. please give me some advise?
If a person becomes accustomed to something and he wants to rid himself of it then he has to do a lot of effort. You have to make a decision that no matter what happens, how difficult it will be on, and however strong is the pull of you desires you are just not going to see it. Simultaneously, make dua to Allah s.w. to help you and be patient. The scholars have said that watching television has fifteen major sins and there is no count of minor sins. In the holy Quran, Allah s.w. has said that if you refrain from the major sins you will be forgiven for your minor sins. Prophet peace be upon him said that if a person makes wudu and prays then all of his sins are forgiven until he doesn’t commit major sins. In watching television a person is committing fifteen major sins, which is a big blunder. One should think about this and be fearful of Allah’s wrath.
Also, you should sit in the company of someone who is pious and spend some time in jama’th continuously insha’allah your problem will go away after sometime and you will be in ease.
