Is it permissible to read dua such as allahumma inni audubika min
fitnatil masihiddajjal and so on after the durood in the last rakaat even if one is hanafi
It is a confirmed sunna to supplicate to Allah before giving one’s salams to end the prayer.
The conditions for this supplication are that it should be either from the Qur’an or the sunna or resemble the supplications of the Qur’an or the sunna. This is such that one does not ask Allah for something that one could also ask another human being such as ‘O Allah fix my car’ or ‘marry me to so-and-so’, as this would constitute worldly speech, which invalidates the prayer.
Thus, the du’a that has been asked about is absolutely permitted and would fulfil the sunna of supplicating before the salam. [Hashiya al-Tahtawi ‘ala Maraqi al-Falah, 1:371, Maktaba al-‘Ilm al-Hadith]
