Sending salutations [durud], a means of attaining intercession

What is the status of following Hadith?

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever sends salutations upon me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening, my intercession will reach to him on day of judgement”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with two chains of narrators. ‘Allamah Mundhiri and Hafiz Haythami (rahimahumallah) have declared one of the chains as good (jayyid).

Although the narrators are reliable, the chain is not continuous (ie. it is munqati’). Despite this, the Hadith is suitable to practice upon.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
