I was just told by a friend of mine that the artificial gold finger rings are not allowed for women. Now my question is: what metals are not allowed for woman to wear and does it include all the jewellery like necklaces, ear rings and finger rings or is this only for fingers rings?
Also, if it is, what amount is allowed if it is mixed with Gold? As in Australia the gold is 9 carat which is 37.5 % gold and remaining are different metals.
And, lastly, which metal is allowed for men to wear as a finger ring? Jazakallu khairan.
Answer:
Men are only permitted to wear a finger ring that is made of silver weighing less than 4.86 grams. It can have a stone of any type and of any weight.
Women are only permitted to wear finger rings made of silver and gold (of any weight). It can have stones of any type.
If the finger ring is made of an alloy of different metals then the ring will take the ruling of whichever metal is predominant in the alloy. For example, if the finger ring is made of an alloy containing 37.5% gold, 10% silver and 52.5% copper, the ring will be considered to be of copper; and therefore it will not be permissible to wear it.
As for other types of jewellery of women — such as necklaces, ear rings etc — they can be of any material.
