Making a promise to Allah Ta’ala

Q: Are all promises to Allah considered as Ahd عهد in fiqh or should we say the word “Ahd عهد” if we want to establish an “ahd” with Allah?

A: If a person has made a promise to Allah Ta’ala within his heart, then he should endeavour to fulfil that promise. If he has taken an oath on the name of Allah or a nazar, then it is compulsory for him to fulfil the oath and the nazar (provided it is of a permissible nature).

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
