2. I Sheikh says that there is no proof in the prophetic Sunnah for making 2 Rak’aats after adorning  the Ihram. According to what I know it is Sunnah, however i do not have any proof for this. Please provide me with the relevant information so that I can show the Sheikh.

  1. There are certain (Meeqaat) borders that have been stipulated from the Ahaadith.  If one crosses this border to enter into Jeddah, then he has to adorn the Ihraam prior to entry into Jeddah.  For example, if one takes a direct flight to Jeddah airport from South Africa, he has to adorn his Ihraam from South Africa.  The border that he will pass is Yalamlam. If his flight stops before Yemen (the place where Yalamlam is situated) he can wear his Ihraam from there, e.g. Nairobi airport.  If the person is aware of where the border is, or the airline announces the approaching of the border, he can wear his Ihraam in the plane or ship, etc as long as it is prior to crossing the border.  If he enters Jeddah for reasons other than Hajj or Umrah he doesn’t need to adorn the Ihraam.
  1. If you mean adorning the two pieces of cloth which we call Ihraam, then there are two Rak’aats Salaah to be read in a non-Makrooh time.  However it should be understood that Ihraam is not just the adornment of two pieces of cloth but instead it is a state which is entered into.  It is Sunnah to take a bath, adorn new clothes (that which we call Ihraam), read two Rak’aats Salaah then make the intention for Hajj or Umrah and upon reciting Talbiyah (in such a way that the tongue moves) one enters the state of Ihraam.
