Question:
Answer:
Ibn Umar RA narrated that Nabi SAW read two Rak’aats Salaah at Thul Hulayfah .Upon completion of the Salaah he stood with the camel at the Masjid in Thul Hulayfah and upon saying the following words entered the state of Ihram, “Labbayk etc”. (Bukhari Muslim taken from Mishkaat)
Nabi SAW stood waiting to say Talbiyah to enter the state of ihram. It is obvious that He wore his clothes (Ihram) prior to performing Salaah. Immediately after Salaah Nabi SAW recited Talbiyah. If Nabi SAW adorned his clothes after Salaah it would have been stated in the Hadith. Upon saying the Talbiyah Ihram started. One should understand that the Salaah was not for adorning the clothes, but instead it was for entering the state of Ihram. So if the sheikh means that there is no Salaah for the adorning of the clothes, he is correct. However if he means that there is no Salaah prior to entering the state of Ihram then he is mistaken, because the above mentioned Hadith clearly proves that Nabi SAW read two Rak’aats Salaah prior to entering the state of Ihram. I am sure the meaning of Salaatul Ihram has been misunderstood to be the adorning of the clothes and not the entry into the state of Ihram
