Question:

If a person works in an environment where full Salah can be difficult can the person read the fardh only?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

There are two types of Sunnah Salah.

The first type is Sunnah-Muakkadah, which literally means an emphasised Sunnah.

This refers to those Sunnah which has to be performed, for instance, two Rakaats of Sunnah of Fajr, four Rakaats before Zuhr and two Rakaats after Zuhr, two Rakaats after Maghrib and two Rakaats after Isha.

To leave out Sunnah-Muakkadah is sinful.

The second type is called Sunnah Ghayr Muakkadah, which means non emphasised Sunnah. They are besides the above mentioned Sunnah.

Leaving out Sunnah Ghayr Muakkadah is not a sin.

In the aforementioned case, you can leave out the Sunnah Ghayr Muakkadah at work. However, you should strive to pray Sunnah Muakkadah and if there is difficulty in it, then our advice is to make dua to Allah (عز و جل) and request to the employers to allow you to pray the Sunnah Muakkadah.

Only Allah knows best.
