Question:
I was a true believer in the past, but I did a lot of sins that eventually made me a disbeliever. I want to repent, but I have some doubts? Why do I have to worship Allah if he does not need it?

Answer:

Assalamu alaykum, I hope all is well with you.
Dear questioner,
Belief in Allah is a conviction in the heart that He exists and that there is no god save Him. This belief is attained through reflection and reason and is ultimately gifted to us by Allah.
Allah is free of all needs.
Allah created us to know Him. To know Him is to come to love Him. Why? He made us and granted us existence. Every blessing you have is because of Him. Before that, we were not even a thought in anyone’s mind.
Allah did not create us because He needs us to worship Him. He is free of all needs and worthy of all praise.
Saying praises of Him grant us the opportunity to earn His pleasure and rewards. He has created us to test us.
˹He is the One˺ Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, All-Forgiving. (Quran 67:1)
Islam
A person who knows Islam is the Truth and that there is no god except Allah is a believer and a Muslim. You should not have any doubts about your Islam.
If you want to believe but already know Islam is the truth, you are already a believer, but now you need to study to understand your religion more appropriately. Doubts are sometimes whisperings from the shaytan [the devil] that come to the human being to make him doubt.
Sins and the harm to the faith
A critical factor to all that you are saying has to do with good deeds and evil deeds. Good deeds increase one’s faith and realization of the Truth. Prayers and supplications and reflection and studying should be vital in every Muslim’s life daily. So try to implement these things in your life.
Allah created us and will question us in the hereafter. It is not appropriate or allowed for us to have such arrogance to question Allah why He does what He does.

In conclusion, I think you need to study Islam from a proper teacher. Start with Aqidah or beliefs first. Take a class with us at Seekersguidance.
