It’s a trend these days that freinds and colleagues bring up this topic often like”bhabi ne kaha hai to shave ki hogi” or if he doesn’t do that “bhabi may get angry” and things of this sort of nature…i get pretty bothered by this and have told a lott of times that anybody’s wife shud never be mentioned then they say what’s wrong with that and they were just joking or teasing me and sometimes even do it more when they know that i’ll be pissed by it…what does islam specifically say about this thing and how shud i react when anyone does this ?Secondly i work as a delivery person and deliver mail to bank or offices and there are girls or women mostly sitting on the reception desk and i do not say hi or hello to them but do greet if a man is sitting,,i’;d like to know am i correct in doing so and if ever any girl asked why do not i say hi to them what shud be my response some of them i’m arrongant??plz Maulana email me not post it on the homepage

Answer

1. You state that your friends are aware that you get bothered by them referring to their wives and they deliberately refer to their wives to bother you. Now that you know that, you should know the solution to that. Do not react or show any emotions to your friends when they refer to their wives.

2. In principle, it is not permissible for a male to greet a Ghayr Mahram (not prohibited in marriage) female as that may lead to Fitnah. However, in practice you should apply wisdom and conduct yourself in a way that you are conscious of the purpose of Shari’ah.
