The intercession of the Quran

Question

What is the status of this narration:

Sa’id ibn Sulaym (rahimahullah) has reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “On the Day of Judgement, before Allah, no other intercessor will have a greater status than the Quran, neither a Prophet nor an angel.”

Answer

Imam Ghazali (rahimahullah) has cited this Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has referenced this narration to ‘Abdul Malik ibn Habib (mursalan) and has not commented on the authenticity.

(Ihya ‘Ulumid Din, vol. 2 pg. 259, Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 858)

‘Allamah Subki (rahimahullah) has cited this Hadith under those Hadiths which he has not found a chain for. (I have also not come across a chain to verify the authenticity).

(Tabaqatush Shafi’iyyah, vol. 6 pg. 301. Also see: Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 5 and Ithafus Sadah Al Muttaqin, vol. 4 pg. 463)

There are many authentic Hadiths which state that the Quran will intercede on behalf of those who recite it [frequently].

(Refer: Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 804. Also see here)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
