Hadith Qudsy? ‘I am among those whose hearts are broken for me’

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is this a saying of Allah Ta’ala?

“I am among those whose hearts are broken for me”

Answer

These exact words have been cited by Imam Ghazali (rahimahullah) to have appeared in ‘some narrations.’

‘Allamah Zabidi (rahimahullah) has written that the Hadith Masters have not recognised this as a narration from Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) and that it is probably a historical (israely) narration.

(Ithafus Sadatil Muttaqin, vol.6 pg.290)

Similar words have indeed been recorded in two separate historical (israely) narrations by Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah) in Hilyatul Awliya, number: 2777 & 8255.
The narration can be quoted as a Historical narration and not as a Hadith Qudsy transmitted by Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
