Keeping a Monkey as a Pet

Question:

My wife keep monkey as pet. I tell her monkey is Halaal only if it is shaved below the navel. Am I right? Also, who should shave monkey?

Answer:
It will be permissible to keep a monkey as a pet if its necessities are fulfilled and no oppression is made on it. Nabi (S.A.W.) has commanded us to show affection towards the creation of Allah. By shaving the monkey one will be harming it and therefore it will not permissible. (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 5, Page 284, Mishkaat, Page 423)
