Muslim Name Rashid and Friday Sermon in Arabic

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Honorable Shaykh, I have 2 questions:

1) How can a Muslim be named Rashid (e.g. Maulana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi) when it is among the names of Allah?

2) I hear many a’imma (some of educated under Dars-e-nizami curriculum) and others of all schools of thought giving the Friday sermon in English. However, reading Mufti Taqi Usmani’s “Language of the Khutbah”, I read to the contrary. Please explain.

May Allah reward you for spending this time for me.

Answer

1) Rashid means rightly guided, upon the straight path. Quraan says

11:78 رَجُلٌ رَّشِيدٌ

When the learned Scholars say something is o.k, we should have confidence on them.

2) I can’t explain. They should do Khutba in Arabic.
