So we have “BISMILLA-HIRRAHMA-NIRRAHEEM” written in the beginning of every surah (113 suras altogether) of the Holy Quran (except surah Tauba), my question is, is the ayah “BISMILLA-HIRRAHMA-NIRRAHEEM” revealed 113 times or is it revealed just one time and the sahaaba added it in the beginning of every surah to differentiate between them. I was reading the tafseer Maariful Quran , on page 20 it says that in the first rakaah of the salaah it is a wajib to recite tasmia “BISMILLA-HIRRAHMA-NIRRAHEEM” after taawwuz (AOOZUBILLAHI MINASHSHAITAA-NIRRAGEEM), I was unable to understand this so could you please explain why it is a wajib to recite tasmia. Whatever Allah (SWT) commands in the Holy Quran it becomes a fard automatically , so according to this, is saying AOOZUBILLAHI MINASHSHAITAA-NIRRAGEEM before reciting the Holy Quran a fard because Allah (SWT) commands so.

In the book of ‘mariful quran’ it has been mentioned that to recite ‘bismillah’ is sunnah, also, there is a quote of some scholar who said that it is mandatory. To quote someone is different than to explain an issue.
That is why the honorable mufti first explained how it should be recited such that one should recite first ‘a’azubillah’
then ‘bismillah’ then begin reciting the sura fatiha.

The concept of ‘usoolul fiqh’ that every imperative tense is for obligation is correct. The word ‘fardh’ and ‘wajib’ are very similar with a small difference and they can be used interchangeably. Also every imperative tens is not for obligation, only that imperative tens is for obligation which does not have any other article to imply its degree as less than obligation. As a matter of fact the jurist have stated that imperative tenses come for about 23 to 24 different meanings. That is why they have concluded that the recitation of ‘ta’awwuz’ is wajib and the recitation of ‘bismillah’
is sunnah. The ‘bismillah’ was placed in the Koran because the prophet peace be upon him had asked his companions to do so and everything else in the Koran is placed because of his orders.
