What is the symbolic meaning of the different postures during Prayer (Salaat)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
What is the symbolic meaning of the different postures during Prayer (Salaat)?
The different forms in the prayer are symbols of praising or thanking god like standing, bowing. We simulate the form of angels, who are always in the bowing position, other animals in the form of prostration. In essence the purpose of it is to show our greatness towards Allah s.w. from our tongues, limbs, and hearts. This is achieved through the prayer, which embodies humility, humbleness, and majesty for Allah s.w.
