Hajj: should one delay it until married?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is there more rewards for doing hajj if a man is single or married? Can he put of hajj till he is married to gain more rewards, even though he is able to go?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

The soundest position in the Hanafi school is that–given the nature of the command of the Qur’an and Sunna regarding the performance of Hajj–it is one’s duty to perform Hajj as soon as one is able; and that it is sinful to delay its performance without due excuse. [ Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar ]

As such, one shouldn’t wait to perform hajj until one is married.

And Allah alone gives success. Faraz Rabbani
