I would like to know the Hanafi viewpoint on da’wah involving the distribution of English translations of Qur’an to non-Muslims.
Walaikum assalam,
English translations of the Qur’an can be given to non-Muslims, as long as they are requested to treat it with respect. One should avoid giving translations that contain the Arabic, for in this case, they would need to be in a state of ghusl.
Note: one cannot touch the writing of translations of the Qur’an without wudu, though one can touch the actual book, unlike the Qur’an itself (i.e. a mushaf).
Wassalam,
