Are the duas found on a website for Laylatul Qadr Shia or Sunni practices?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Asalamwaliakum.

last year for laylatul Qadr I found on a website some duas and i recited them as insturcted, however I am now concerned that they may shia practicies and outside the shria. I am concerned that to do good deeds, i may have performed some sin insted. Please take a look at them for me and confirm if they are shia or sunni and if it was ok to recite.

see below

one said that imam mohammad baqi (as) said on the 19th, 21st and 23rd of ramzan to hold open the holy quran in front of your face and recite this dua:

Alla humma inni as ‘aluka be kitabek-al munzal-e wa ma feeh-e wa feehismok-al akbaro wa asmaaukal husna wa ma yukhafu wa yurja an taj ‘alani min utaqa’eka min-an nar-e wa taqzi-a hawa’eji lid-duniya wal aakhirah.

and then ask for whatever you wish from your Lord(swt). Inshallah that wish will be granted.

Imam Jafer-e-Sadiq(a.s.) recommends that “Put the Holy Quran on your head and say:
Alla humma be haqqe hazal qura’ane wa be haqqe man arsaltahu behi wa be haqqe kulle mu’minin madahtahu feehe wa be haqqeka alaehim fala ahada aarafo be haqqeka minka.

10 times: beka ya Allah-ho (swt),
10 times: be-Mohammad-in (pbuh&hf),
10 times: be-Ali-in (a.s.),
10 times: be-Fatima-ta (a.s.),
10 times: bil-Hasan-e (a.s.),
10 times: bil-Hussain-e (a.s.),
10 times: be-Ali ibn-il-Hussain-e- (.a.s),
10 times: be-Mohammad ibn-e-Ali-in (a.s.),
10 times: be-Jaffer ibn-e-Mohammad-in (a.s.),
10 times: be-Moosa ibn-e-Jaffer-in (a.s.),
10 times: be-Ali ibn-e-Moosa (a.s.),
10 times: be-Mohammad ibn-e-Ali-in (a.s.),
10 times: bil Hassan ibn-e-Ali-in (a.s.),
10 times: bil-Hujjat il-Qayyam-e (a.s.)

After this whatever wish you have, ask your Lord(swt) for it.

ALSO THEY SAID TO RECITE the Ziarat-e-Warisa of Imam Hussain(a.s.). What is ziaraat? please explain

I use these websites below, do you know if they are sunni websites? also please suggest any sunni websites that you know of.
www.ziaraat.com
www.duas.org
http://www.rizvia.com/intro.asp

I use the internet to find dua’s and such and it is difficult to know what websites are sunni and which are shia, how do you distinguish between them and practices outside sharia.

If i have done sin by performing these would repentance to ALLAH (swt) be enough.?

jazakallahkhaire

Answer
Bismillaah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem.

Wa ‘Alaykumussalaam wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh.

1. The mentioned websites are of the Shi’ah sect, as are the narrations and wazeefas. We should refrain from visiting such websites and following their teachings.

2. The only dua mentioned in the Hadeeth with regards to the Night of Power (laylatul Qadr) is narrated by Aishah (radhiallaahu anha):

Allaahumma innaka ‘Afuwwun Kareemun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘annee

Please refer to the following link for more on the Night of Power.

3. The fundamental principles and beliefs of Shi’ahs vastly differ from those of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah. The chief difference is the that they overstate their respect and love for the Ahl-e-Bayt (noble family of the Prophet), so much so that they regard all else as secondary to that. As a result, they degrade many of the other companions of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). Islam is a religion of moderation, wherein we adopt the middle-path in all aspects. Though respect and love for the Ahl-e-Bayt is an essential part of Faith, it is shown in moderation. The manner of making dua mentioned in your question consitutes of asking Allaah through the Waseelah (means) of personalities among the Ahl-e-Bayt, whom the Shi’ahs consider to be the only twelve Imaams of the Muslims.

4. Unfortunately, there are numerous misguding and deviating websites all accross cyber space. Hence we should be very careful before we accept and follow the teachings of a particular website.

5. Sincere repentence is sufficient for the forgiveness of any sin, no matter how grave it may be.

And Allaah knows best.

Wassalaam.
