What should I do about my past and the lies I’ve told my husband?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Dear muftisaab,
My husband and i are very much in love and seem like the perfect couple mashallah he thinks the world of me but i have a past which he has no idea about. Before i knew him i did things that i am so ashamed of… i was stupid ignorant young and followed the wrong crowd i am in denial of what i used to be like i cant come to terms with how i was. I am a completely different person now and would never do those things again but i keep on getting flashbacks of what i used to do and i feel so so disgusting for lying to him. If he ever found out i know he would never look at me in the same way again and would probably hate me or leave me. I love him so much but i feel like i am betraying him. Will my lies be revealed to him on the day of judgement? I am so scared and ashamed and have sincerely repented and i intend on doing further. Please help me or please advise me on what to do.
Thank you .

Respected questioner,

If you make sincere repentance and Allah (swt) accepts your repentance (Tawbah) then all your sins shall be forgiven.

Allah (swt) states in the Glorious Quraan, Surah Al Furqaan, Ayah 70- 71.

Except the one who repents and believes and does good deeds, then Allah will replace the evil of such people with good deeds, and Allah is Most Forgiving, Very Merciful.

وَمَن تابَ وَعَمِلَ صٰلِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتابًا

Whoever repents and does righteous deeds turns to Allah truly.

The Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace) said, The one who repents from sin is like the one who never sinned. Ibn Maja (3240)

The conditions for true repentance are well known:

Leaving the sin;
Remorse over having committed the sin;
Resolve never to return to the sin;
(If it relates to the rights of another person, then to) Return the rights or property one wrongly took. [Riyad al-Salihin]

One of the signs of a believer is that after committing a sin, they feel guilty about it. So it is a good sign that you have a feeling of guilt about your action.

If sincere repentance (Tawbah) is made then Insha Allah the sin will be forgiven as long as you are not withholding a right of an individual.

The best advice I can prescribe for you is to start obeying Allah.

And Allah knows best
