Understanding Haiz and Istihaadha in Hanafi Fiqh

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Could you please explain in detail what is Haiz and Istihaadha. According to my knowledge Menstruation period is called  Haiz. According to Hanafi Fiqh how many days we need to consider for Haiz?

A: The monthly bleeding that a woman experiences is known as haidh provided she bleeds for three days or more. The details of this are recorded in the fiqh kitaabs. An easy referral kitaab is Bahishti Zewar by Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahmatullahi alaih).
