The Meaning of “Aaqa” and Its Relation to Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What’s the meaning of “Aaqa”? People refer to Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as Aaqa in poetry. Is it Shirk?

Bismillaah

A: No. Aaqa is an address of respect, such as the word sir in English.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
