Method of ruku for women

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Today when I was praying, when I went into ruku, my palms were touching my knees but my fingers were touching my clothes and not my knees. Is my ruku and salah valid? I’m a woman.

Bismillaah

A: Your salaah is valid.

The sunnah method of performing ruku for a woman is that she should bend slightly to the extent that her fingers are able to touch her knees. In the posture of ruku a woman’s fingers will be kept together. She will not grasp the knees fully nor spread out her fingers. Similarly, her head and back will not be kept in a straight line as a male performs ruku.
