What is the Shar’i standard of doing Qurban in Eid ul Adh’ha?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria

What is the Shar’i standard of doing Qurban in Eid ul Adh’ha? People who have means think that by slaughtering a goat their duty is fulfilled. Is it proper or not to take shares in Qurbani?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

For a person who has means it is compulsory to do Qurbani only on his behalf, either by slaughtering a goat or a sheep or by taking share in a 7th part of a cow, ox or camel. By doing so, his duty will be discharged. However if he is married and the spouse too is a Sahib e Nisab then Qurbani becomes compulsory upon the spouse too. Now, it is better if the Husband does it on behalf of her and informs her, or else it is compulsory for her to do Qurbani from her own wealth. And if a person who has means wishes to perform a Qurbani on behalf of someone else, it is permissible and is also an act of merit and Barakath.
