Is it permissible to do qurbani in the wife’s name instead of the husband’s name?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I need your guidance in one issue. I am from Texas, USA. Yesterday, during Eid-ul-Adha, I gave qurbani/sacrifice a goat for Allah on behalf of my wife’s name. Also, in my country, my parents gave qurbani/sacrifice a cow where out of seven portions one portion was supposed to be on behalf of my name. But due to miscommunication, they also gave a qurbani that portion on behalf of my wife. So we did qurbani twice on behalf of my wife but there was no qurbani on behalf of me whereas I am the earning member of the family and my wife doesn’t earn. Please what should be done in this scenario?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

If you could not offer qurbani then you should give the price of one year old goat in charity to the poor and needy ones. It should also be noted that if qurbani is done on behalf of any living person then his permission should be sought in clear words.
