Shaytan’s displeasure when a youngster gets married

What is status of following narration?

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أيما شاب تزوج في حداثة سنه إلا عج شيطانه: يا ويله، يا ويله، عصم مني دينه

Answer

Imams Abu Ya’la and Tabarani (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 2041, Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4472)

However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has declared the text unreliable (munkar) and has declared one of the narrators extremely weak.

(Al Matalibul ‘Aliyah, Hadith: 1643-1644. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 4 pg. 253)

Although marriage does indeed keep a man chaste, this particular Hadith is not suitable to quote.

Translation

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When a youngster gets married, Shaytan cries out, ‘Woe to him, woe to him, he has protected his religion from me.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
