Can I pray on the grass in my town, given that it is irrigated with sewage water?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Amjad Rasheed

I live in a city that has numerous plots of grass. The local municipality irrigates the grass using sewer water, which is filthy (najis). A slight odor is perceptible after the irrigation. Is it permissible to pray on this grass? Is there a difference if the grass is wet or dry?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
